This was the first song we wrote for the record. The flange on Travis’ drums on the intro of the song was done the old school way, using two tape machines. When it came to writing the lyrics, Tom and I went into different rooms, and he wrote the versus, and I wrote the choruses, without discussing the subject ahead of time. It turns out we both wrote about sex. Two different sides, the passionate, lustful side (versus) and the romantic side (chorus).
Headcanon that after the battle of Hogwarts, George dyes his hair an outrageous colour, and at first Molly is mad, but then she hears George whisper “I kept thinking it was him in the mirror”.
And it works over and over again because nobody questions anyone who says something in an authoritative manner as long as it meshes with what people already believe. Nor does anyone bother to google anything. Go anonymous, say anything is a slur with an authoritative tone to a few of the right (gullible) people, and others will believe it—-and start “educating” more people not to use the new(ly made up) slur.
